This past weekend my amazing mother came into town to help me do some packing - and by some I mean all. She's the absolute BEST at packing. I went to work Friday morning and came home Friday night to my life packed neatly in boxes and bins. Now I must admit I did try to help her out more this time - buying some "packing" materials in advance. It's not every weekend that my mom comes to visit, so I didn't want to spend the entire weekend in my apartment packing.
In Florida they currently do not have anything comparable to Capital Bike Share. So, my mom has always wanted to try it out while visiting me. This Saturday presented the best opportunity to do so - free time, sunny weather, brunch location not too far away. Momma B and I hopped on our bikes and away we were - heading to Georgetown to meet a friend for brunch. One thing Momma B also loves is brunching. I've always heard amazing things about Farmers, Fishers, and Bakers but I've never been there before and was dying to try it. If you follow
Bitches Who Brunch, then you already know it received rave reviews.
After a morning full of shopping, it was time to EAT! We arrived at FFB to a packed house. When we saw the buffet staring at us we immediately went from hungry to starving. After about a 15 minute wait we were finally seated. We sat for about 10 seconds and then be-lined to the food. Let me try to paint a mental picture for you - there was about 6 different mixed salads and pastas, a freshly made guacamole station with chips and salsa, fresh omelet station, sliced grapefruits the size of my face, a paella station, bananas foster french toast, mini dessert station which featured
their famous freshly made caramel popcorn. OH and if that's not enough -
waiters walk around throughout the restaurant passing out samples of
sushi, fried coconut shrimp, and eggs benedict. OH AND not to mention
that when you sit at the table another waiter asks if you want fresh
cinnamon rolls and biscuits at your table....does a bear poop in the
woods?? YES we want icing covering our faces immediately! Check out the
Bitches blog to see just how large those buns are!
Typically
when I make the effort to brunch I almost always go bottomless and/or
have a glass or two of champs; however, this time around I did not :(
Mother gave up alcohol for Lent (Mom, your crazy but I love you for
trying!) and our other brunch companion was in detox mode. FFB offers
this delish looking drink served in what I can only describe as a
fishbowl. No, it's not actually a fish bowl, but to give you an idea,
that's how large it is. I have no idea what was in it but I was dying
to try. They give you these super long straws to drink out of, so I was
very tempted to grab my own straw and try to put it in someone else's
drink....I didn't actually do that though. At $30 per person, this
brunch can't be beat.
