Wishin I Was, Knee Deep In The Water Somewhere

The first time I saw Zac Brown Band in concert was this past summer, and it was one of the best concerts I’ve been to.   I’ve been to concerts before where it’s all about the stage performance and less about the actual music (Britney Spears, N’SYNC, etc) – but that’s not the case for ZBB.  Their voices and musical talent are incredible.  The lead singer must have used 5 different guitars throughout the concert and his band mates play everything from a harmonica to the violin.

When PR suggested we go see them in concert again, this time standing in the pit area, I happily agreed.  Standing in the pit area (which is basically all of the surrounding area around the front of the stage) was one of the best experiences.  Shockingly and maybe because it was a Sunday, the pit was not too crowded.  The concert venue itself was packed, but there was plenty of room in the pit, so it made the experience even better.  I felt like at any moment I was going to be pulled on stage and asked to do backup vocals!

Not only was the concert amazing, but the people watching was almost even better.  As I mentioned, it was a Sunday night and the crazies came out to play.  I put together a list of some of the things I witnessed when not singing loudly – the recaps are of drunk, older people making fools of themselves, so apologies in advance.

1.       Incredibly drunk man hitting on a 16 year old (rough estimate in age) while her mom was standing next to her pushing him away.  Thank goodness random guy X came to the rescue when the drunk guy became friendly and pushed him in a different direction.

2.      Incredibly drunk, hippieish woman dancing literally everywhere with her arms and hands constantly in the air swaying back and forth and/or fist pumping.  She was noteworthy because she was groping a guy who PR and I thought was about 16 – when he turned around it was evident he was older, but then she was also groping another guy who stood behind them about 5 feet away but was clearly with them (both said guys spoke multiple times throughout the concert).  Is this a case of brother husbands??

3.      Moms partaking in Sunday Funday and dragging their husbands along for the ride.  I am all about parents having a good time, but when they try to revert back to their early 20’s, things become awkward.  Mental picture:  lots of dancing between the two, sometimes hugging/strangling their husbands,  screams when their fav song comes on, husband X trying to take photos of them on his phone while they are doing multiple poses, and loud noises when one discovers her concert tee lights up in the dark.

4.      Another mental image for you: a pretty woman, roughly 35 years old, wearing a long sleeve shirt, jeans, a beanie, and a cross body bag….sooooo drunk that she could barely stand up. PR and I were just standing there minding our own business when this woman walks by and creepily pops up behind people. It almost appears like she is about to just start joining different groups and hanging out with different people. She wanders around for about 6 minutes – popping in and out – until I realize what she was doing.  Her husband was in the middle of a crowd in the pit and I’m assuming she was looking for him, because she became very excited when she found him.  Mind you, this whole scene happened twice.

Overall, the concert was amazing, and I’m an even bigger fan of Zac Brown Band now!

The start of the concert
The crowd- random guy X in bottom right hand corner of the pic was the hero of the night for helping said 16 year old girl and her mom
So close!!
Stage set up was simple and perfect- no need to take away from the music
Had to post this pic- the lead singer decided to take a walk about through the crowd. He passed right by us, and as I was taking a picture of him looking in our direction THIS GUY decided to shot block...DUMB!
Gotta love a good filter
